Dude, how can you say I'm running away? This thread is 13 effing pages. I TIRED OF IT. You are the one twisting words.
You have avoided many questions on this thread though, a few I asked included.
i wanted to make a few comments to those of you that have recently begun to question or have already left the wt and made their way onto this site.
this site is a great resource to learn how others are coping with leaving the organization and moving on into a fulfilling life.. i wanted to write this post because i think reading something like this would've been helpful to me to understand where a lot of people that comment on this site are coming from.
you are going to hear from a wide range of people that have moved on to a diverse range of beliefs.

Makes me laugh you keep quoting scriptures to atheists, we don't believe the bible is anything more than a story book, why bother?

It's fine to believe in god!
I just don't understand why people think I'm daft for believing that the FSM is god? I don't think it's any different to believing god is Allah or Jesus? If people can have faith that the Holy Spirit touched them then why won't people accept I was touched by his noodly appendage?

Zombie dub, because I have researched other so-called holy books and the reasons they cannot be from God are readily apparent. Everytime I am introduced to an apparent contradiction from the Holy Bible it's ALWAYS ended up strengthening my faith instead of destroying it. Sometimes those little "contradictions" are not contradictions at all and end up being fine testaments to God. Until I can disprove the Word of God, I will not throw it out because faulty human philosophies, IMO.
Have you honestly researched other holy books in as much detail as you have the bible? I imagine you find a contradiction in the bible and go through all kinds of illogical mental gymnastics to make it fit, but if you found an apparent contradiction in something like the quaran you would immediately say "ah ha, that proves it's wrong". Just be honest with yourself. If you honestly have spent the same amount of time trying to reconcile the problems with other holy books as you have the bible, then fair play - can you honestly say this?
To me it seems you are bias and have an agenda that the bible is right and everything else is wrong. I would also guess had you been born in india or saudi arabia your bias would have been for a different holy book.
Also you didn't answer my query as to whether you were catholic, and if not why do you put faith in a catholic holy book?

Brother Dan, can i ask why is it you believe the bible is from god, but the qua ran, book of mormon etc are not? Why that holy book and not another? Also are you a catholic? If not why do you accept the catholic bible, because the 66 books you take as being from god where simply the books the catholic church picked from 100s of potentials books that could have been in there.
i know this topic has been discussed here before, but i still cease to be amazed at the spending that the wt does to build it's facilities.
this is an issue that jws like to brag about.
today i received an email regarding the open house of the new casa grande az assembly hall.
doesnt work for me either
for atheists and strong agnostics (those who believe that we cannot know about god if he exists):.
i am posting this thread because i think it greatly help myself (and other christian believers) to better understand your beliefs and your viewpoints, if you posted a short (or long) summary of what the reasons and basis are for your not believing that there is a god, or for believing that we cannot know god if he exists.. you can include arguments against god, against the bible, against the christian interpretations of the bible, etc.. you can include scientific evidence that you believe contradicts the bible, or contradicts the existence of a god/creator/designer.. christians believers: you are welcome to post counter-arguments, or summaries for why you believe in god/creator/designer or why you believe in the bible or the christian interpretations of the bible.. i also thought it might be good to link to another lively thread we had on this website a while back: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/175688/1/god-morals-and-atheists.
when you include your reasons for why you don't believe in god or the bible, or why you do believe in god or the bible, please include at least a little bit of the evidence (or link to the evidence) that backs up your statement.. for example, it doesn't do much good to claim "evolution is false" and just leave it at that, or on the other hand, to say "the bible is full of scientific errors" and just leave it at that.. here are two threads i posted where i explained the reasons why i personally believe in god and the bible:.
There are no Atheists. They don’t exist.
I am an atheist. I exist. Therefore you are wrong.
It takes a bigger leap of faith to be an Ignorer of God than a Believer (regardless of spiritual orientation).
Using the same logic it takes a bigger leap of faith to be an Ignorer of Count Dracula than a Believer (regardless of spiritual orientation).
and how far apart were they?.
thanks.
I fell in love with my first MacBook Pro and then my 27" iMac. Between those 2 which were about 2 years apart I had a series of torrid love affairs with a Smart car and finely crafted pretentious cutlery set.
